NEWS RELEASE
EDDY CHARLTON STYLISH SUIT ON DISPLAY
AT HALL OF FAME

The late Australian world snooker champion Eddie Charlton was as well known for his stylish playing outfits as he was for his prowess on the big green table and now people can view one of his finest suits at the Gold Coast Sporting Hall of Fame in Southport.

The navy blue suit resplendent with a red bow tie was loaned by Eddie’s former manager, Mudgeeraba-based business identity John Preston.

Charlton was born in New South Wales in 1929 and played snooker from the age of nine.

His sporting life was filled with highlights including winning no less than 22 Australian professional snooker championships, world championships, appearing as a regular on the British Pot Black television program, being part of the Olympic torch relay in 1956 and famously touring the country in semi-retirement with his three-hour ‘snooker show’.

Although a cockroach by birth, he spent a great deal of time on the Gold Coast and was always keen to take on the locals in a 'friendly' but ultimately one-sided game.

All are  welcome to view the suit and read up on Charlton’s amazing career at the Gold Coast Sporting Hall of Fame at Owen Park, Southport (off Queen Street) from Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 4:00pm.
